Dr. Zakir Naik on Sania Mirza's dress code

March 19, 2008: Dr. Zakir Naik speaks on the dress code for women by giving references from the Bible, the Vedas and from the Quran, for Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Aishwarya Rai and for Sania Mirza.

Sania Mirza, however, had to make hard choices in her life and career, including her tennis attire. See what Wikipedia says about Sania Mirza’s tennis attire which is being referred to in this video and other aspects of her career, “The short tennis clothes she has to wear in the court has drawn criticism from some Muslim religious groups, with Mirza being a practicing Muslim who prays five times a day, and fasts during Ramzan. According to one report published 8 September 2005, an unnamed Muslim scholar had issued a ruling, saying that women's tennis attire is not suited to Islam. Jamiat-Ulema-e-Hind rejected rumors about disrupting her game saying that they do not stop anyone from playing, although they found female tennis players' dress code objectionable. Nevertheless, Calcutta police tightened security measures to protect her.”

On safe sex, after Mirza spoke at a conference in November 2005, some groups said she was detached from Islam and that she was a ‘corrupting influence on the youth.’ Mirza clarified her stance by saying that she was opposed to premarital sex.

Dr. Zakir Naik, a Muslim apologist, public speaker and writer on Islam and other religions, is a medical doctor (MBBS) by profession, from Maharashtra. He is the founder president of the Islamic Research Foundation, which owns and broadcasts the Peace TV channel from Mumbai. It may noted that in a lecture delivered on 31 July 2008 on Peace TV, Naik argued that 9/11 attack on the Twin Towers in USA was an insider job carried out by George Bush himself, so that Bush could then attack oil-rich countries.
